Inventory Control Associate (Rialto, CA)

United Pipe & Steel, a member of the Reliance, Inc. family of companies, is a leading master distributor of standard pipe products in the United States, serving wholesale distributors only from our fleet of flatbed trucks. We seek an energetic and detail-oriented Inventory Control Associate to join our Rialto, California team!

Our Inventory Control Associate is responsible for inventory storage and movements within and between the assigned inventory locations, as well as packaging, shipping, and receiving from the assigned location. You would be responsible for adhering to safety guidelines while examining tags and products in a busy warehouse setting, reviewing that the correct product is in the proper location, and if not, being able to find and correct the issue through critical thinking and problem-solving skills. This position is perfect for individuals with data entry or clerical work backgrounds and who will enjoy being on their feet. This person will report to the Inventory Control Manager.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • Performs daily physical verification and counting of stock to detect shortages.
  • Monitors and maintains current inventory levels; tracks orders and reconciles actual stock count to computer-generated parts.
  • Oversees the Receiving process paperwork.
  • Assists other warehouse locations as appropriate and the Sales department with manifest changes and MTR requirements.
  • Manages the Inbound/Receiving Calendar for the warehouse.
  • Identifies QA material (Repair or taken out of inventory) by physically inspecting the merchandise for damages or breakages.
  • Investigate any delivery issues. Provides clear spoken and written information to supervisors and managers regarding the status of situations with inventory.
  • Must be accurate and double-check receiving paperwork.
  • Willingness to assist other warehouse locations with the possibility of light travel; 1-2 times quarterly.
  • Performs job safely concerning others, property, and individual safety.
  • Works effectively with other departments in the company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned by management.
  • Assist on-site warehouse as needed.

    Qualifications & Skills

    • General computer skills with experience in MS Office.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel; Epicor P21 experience a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
    • Ability to read and understand procedures, and documents and to learn additional software applicable to the job.
    • Excellent time management skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines.
    • Highly motivated, self-starter preferred.

    Physical Requirement

    • This position requires considerable physical activity, including standing for prolonged periods, reaching, bending repeatedly, lifting, pushing, and pulling safely up to 50 pounds.
    • Be willing to work in all weather conditions.
    • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
    • A willingness to learn how to operate a sit-down forklift is helpful, and training is provided.
    • Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
