Office Administrator (Houston, TX)
United Pipe & Steel, a member of the Reliance Inc. family of companies, is a leading master distributor of standard pipe products in the United States, serving wholesale distributors only from our fleet of flatbed trucks. We seek an energetic Office Administrator reporting to our Houston corporate office at 13501 Emmett Road, Houston, TX 77041.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations and Human Resources, the Office Administrator will support the front office with varied clerical activities and related tasks. The Office Administrator will be responsible for answering calls, directing visitors, and coordinating events for the company. They will also implement office policies and procedures and ensure they are implemented appropriately.
General Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee and support all administrative duties in the office and ensure that the office is operating smoothly
- Serves as the receptionist for the office, greeting visitors, and answering and directing phone calls.
- Acts as liaison between employees and outside contractors for facility maintenance and services.
- Receives, manages, and processes work order requests; ensures problems are resolved quickly.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies: orders new supplies as needed.
- Provides clerical support when needed to assist clerical staff with assigned administrative duties such as sorting and distributing mail and preparing documents.
- Maintains physical space, ensuring a safe, clean, and functional environment.
- Partner with HR and leadership to implement initiatives that enhance employee engagement.
- Promote positive and collaborative company culture by organizing events, maintaining office décor, and preparing meeting rooms.
- Develop office policies and procedures, and ensure they are implemented appropriately.
- Experience in human resources functions is a plus but not required.
Required & Preferred Qualifications:
- Onsite Monday through Friday 8 am – 5 pm
- 2-5 years of work experience in an administrative/office management role.
- Must have exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, and ability to prioritize.
- Must be a self-starter and driven.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical abilities.
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office and Google products.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to pass a background check and drug test.
