Business Development & Outside Sales Representative (Mid-Atlantic)

As we continue to grow, we’re looking for an experienced, relationship-driven Business Development & Outside Sales Representative to join our Mid-Atlantic team!
In this role, you’ll serve as a key connection between our customers and our operations, helping wholesale distributors get the products they need while building long-term partnerships.
Job Overview
The Outside Sales / Business Development Representative is responsible for managing and growing customer relationships within an assigned Mid-Atlantic territory. This field-based role focuses on building long-term partnerships, developing new business opportunities, and expanding existing accounts. This role offers a high degree of autonomy, supported by inside sales, sales assistants, and experienced sales leadership.
Responsibilities and Job Duties:
- Responsible for owning, managing and growing a defined geographic territory within the Mid-Atlantic region
- Build and maintain strong relationships with existing customers
- Identify and pursue sustainable business opportunities
- Learn and present United Pipe & Steel’s value proposition
- Develop and execute territory sales strategies
- Consistently meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales objectives
- Monitor market conditions and competitive activity to inform territory strategy
- Collaborate closely with Inside Sales and operational partners
- Maintain accurate customer and sales activity in Epicor and CRM systems
- Participate in trade shows, customer events, and sales meetings
Work Environment & Travel
- Field-based role with a home office
- Regular travel throughout the Mid-Atlantic territory
- Occasional overnight travel for meetings or events
- Reliable personal transportation required to effectively service the territory
Required & Preferred Qualifications:
- Approximately five or more years of customer-facing sales experience in a field-based role.
- Distribution, industrial, plumbing, HVAC, PVF, or related industry experience preferred
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with internal teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365
- ERP and CRM experience required (Epicor a plus)
- Offer contingent on passing a background check and drug test.
