What Is CPVC Pipe?

CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) is PVC with added chlorine, which lets it handle higher temperatures. It’s rated for hot and cold water service, while standard PVC is generally limited to cold water, drainage and other lower-temperature uses.

CPVC for Plumbing and Hot and Cold Water

CTS (copper tube size) CPVC matches copper tube dimensions and is common in residential and commercial hot and cold water lines. Schedule 80 has a heavier wall for industrial, process and higher-pressure applications.
