What Is ABS Pipe?

ABS (acrylonitrile butadiene styrene) is a rigid black plastic made for drain, waste and vent lines. It’s lightweight, easy to cut and joins with solvent cement. ABS usually doesn’t need a primer, unlike PVC, but check local code and our CPVC standards and specifications page.

ABS Drain Pipe for DWV Applications

It’s used for sanitary drain, waste and vent systems in residential, commercial and industrial construction. Cellular core has a foam middle layer between solid inner and outer walls, which makes it lighter than solid wall pipe. It’s made for non-pressure, gravity-flow applications only.
